Athlete’s breakfast! A ritual and some bird food that will make you live another 100 years!

So this is how complicated my breakfast looks. It really is a ritual. I would wake up and have glass of lukewarm water with lemon squeezed in it. It is the most alkalising of hot drinks and gets your digestive system moving beautifully.  Wait 30 minutes . Have some nettle tea (fennel or thyme tea).  Needles to say why this is good for you?  Ok let me tell you about nettle tea- it is a rejuvenator. It has a supportive effect on the immune system, the circulation, the urinary tract, nervous system, respiratory tract, digestive system and the endocrine system. After the tea wait a bit. And then have breakfast! Sometimes I would have a juice made of beetroot, carrot, ginger and apple or a chia  seed pudding- but about this another time. Right.

For this energising porridge you will need:
Hot water

Barley oats (soothes digestion and supports the liver function, heals stomach ulcers and lowers cholesterol, GENIUS!)

Finely ground oatemeal and Regular Oatmeal- lowers cholesterol levels, stabilizes blood sugar.

Honey or Malases or Algarve syrup

Almond Milk ( you can also make it urself- soak raw almonds ( 1 cup) for 4 hours then blend them in high speed blender with 1 liter- then pass them through a muslin bag. Store in fridge for up to 2 days only. ) It is very alkaline and contains lots of magnesium. If you are buying it make sure you buy it without sweetener.

Hemp Seed and Flax Seed- zinc, calcium and magnesium high. Full of beneficial fatty acids.

Cinnamon - read that it has anti microbial properties but since we are putting a tiny bit it really does not matter what it does to you!

Himalayan salt- usually you should not put too much salt in your cooking. However, Himalayan salt is mineral rich and balances sodium and does not pose the threat of dehydration. Most commercially available salt is processed stripping most of the essential materials. I am adding a couple of granules for the taste- i think it really balances out the sweetness and makes the taste more interesting.

Vanilla extract

All our nutritional grains- body fuel- in a bowl! Don’t be put off by the meager look or by my off putting branding “bird food”- remember that you added honey, cinnamon, almond milk and vanilla extract ( along with some salt). It does not taste like shit, au contraire it will get your taste buds tingling! *note to self: it does not taste like maple syrup , butter, bacon and pancakes but you have not signed up for that here!!!
